Choose the soundtrack before removing the picture
An MP4 is a container that may hold video, audio, subtitles, and metadata. A recording can include multiple language tracks or commentary. Decide which track the WAV should represent and check the beginning and end against the video before treating the audio copy as complete.
For a long recording, note the source's duration and expected channel layout. A dialogue track, stereo music mix, and surround soundtrack serve different purposes. The resulting WAV should be named and stored so that its relationship to the original video remains clear.
