Export an Illustrator Artboard as PNG

An Illustrator document can hold several artboards and hidden alternatives. Choose the intended board and decide the display dimensions before export. A vector source can scale widely, but the PNG has a fixed number of pixels once it is created.

If the asset will appear at several responsive sizes, prepare suitable versions from the AI source instead of enlarging a small PNG. Name each file with its placement or dimensions. Keep a record of the board and revision that produced the image.

Look at fine labels, thin strokes, and small symbols in the saved PNG. Anti-aliasing can make vector details look different when rasterized at a small size. Review at the dimensions where visitors will see the asset, then zoom in to check edges and clipping.

If text appears wrong, inspect font availability and linked resources in the AI source. A raster export can lock in a substitution. Preserve the editable project and correct the source before generating another derivative when wording or layout is important.

Retain the AI document and linked assets in the project folder. Use the PNG as a delivery derivative with a clear version name. If the design changes, export from the vector source again rather than editing and resaving an old PNG.

Before publishing, inspect hidden drafts, licensed images, and private client details. Add alternative text through the page content system and confirm the output opens in the target application. Conversion does not grant image rights or make the graphic accessible by itself.
