Export a Photoshop Design as PNG

A PSD may contain alternate versions, hidden drafts, masks, and adjustment layers. Decide which combination is the approved artwork and inspect it at the final canvas bounds. The PNG records the rendered appearance, not the individual choices that produced that composition.

If a reviewer needs to move text or objects, send an authorized editable project rather than relying on the PNG. Use the image copy for placements that expect pixels, such as a web graphic, a preview, or a document illustration. Keep the PSD in the project source folder with its linked assets.

PSD documents can use color profiles, blend modes, and adjustment layers that affect the visible composite. Check the PNG in the destination application, especially when colors must match a brand guide or print proof. A profile conversion can alter appearance even when the underlying design intent has not changed.

If the document has multiple artboards or canvas areas, confirm which one becomes the image. A single PNG may not include every alternate state. Name the export with the design variant and revision so another person can identify it without reopening the layered project.

Check whether the recipient wants transparency, a solid background, or a particular pixel size. A large transparent canvas may be unnecessary for a small icon, while reducing the canvas without checking can cut off shadows. Match the output to the actual placement rather than exporting by habit.

Before sharing, inspect visible content for confidential notes, client names, or unused design elements. The PNG shows pixels but does not automatically sanitize project metadata or rights information. Preserve attribution and asset licenses with the project when required.
